About Wired Coffee House

Wired Coffee House reflects our roots: inspired by our travels with a strong sense of home. The mission of Wired is to provide exceptional coffee and food service to our eclectic community. Since we opened in May 2015, we have worked hard to bring you the very best experience possible, like supporting local businesses and ethical farming practices. In February 2016, we opened a second Wired location in downtown Evanston, and so, our Adventure continues...

Owners Antony and Antonia

Antony was born and raised in Benoni, South Africa. He sought and received political asylum from the United States in the 1980's for speaking out against the Apartheid. While here, he met Manhattan native Antonia, who's Italian home-cooking and New York sass won him over completely. Together, they decided to call Chicago home. Five kids and several years later, they opened Wired Coffee House, hoping to bring their love of food, culture, heritage, and family together.

Our Part-Time Help, Full-Time Family

Our part-time help sure is cute! Meet the Connor-van Zyl kids, who you will see helping out from time-to-time at the coffeehouse and during special events.

Chelsea is a recent law school graduate with her own business: XO Marshmallow!
She makes all the marshmallows for our toasted latte and treats.
Emma is works for an art gallery and is a part-time student. She is usually the one fixing your drinks on Sundays.
Samantha is about to embark on a trip to Costa Rica after she graduates from ETHS this spring. We already miss her.
Caitlyn is our favorite substitute cash register attendant and dishwasher. She also attends Evanston Township, and has another year before graduation.
Kevin (not shown) is our big brother. He is our part-time technology guru.

Proudly Brewing Black Mamba Coffee

Wired Coffee Card

Pay It Forward

We proudly brew Black Mamba Coffee, which goes a step beyond fair trade to directly purchasing organic coffee beans from small scale farmers in Ethiopia. Want to learn more about what makes a great cup of coffee? Join us for one of our Coffee Cuppings hosted by Black Mamba owner and Master Roaster Dave McLaughlin.

Purchase one of our Wired Coffee Cards and enjoy twelve cups of coffee for the price of ten. Just show us your card, and grab a cup to go! Popular at our Evanston location.

The idea is simple:  Pick one menu item (like a cup of coffee or panini) and purchase it for a friend, neighbor, or stranger. Write the name of the intended beneficiary (ex. Antony/a dog lover/the next guy who walks in with a beard) on our Pay It Forward Board. The next time that person comes in, they get the item for free!
